Ukraine: Iryna Belyakova Targeted with Stalking and Online Harassment

October 17, 2024 - Ukraine, Ternopil

20 Khvylyn journalist Iryna Belyakova reports being stalked after an anonymous user shared covert photos and videos of her daily activities on Facebook. The footage, taken at various locations, suggests she is being deliberately tracked. Police are investigating potential privacy violations.

While the motive for this harassment remains unclear, it coincides with an online disinformation targeting her colleague from 20 Khvylyn and the outlet's ongoing sensitive investigations into land sales and local officials.

Women Press Freedom urges authorities to investigate this disturbing case promptly, protect Iryna, and ensure that journalists can work safely.
