Gaza: Women Press Freedom Condemns Targeted Killings of Journalists in Gaza, Including Nadia Al-Sayed and Haneen Baroud

Women Press Freedom, unequivocally condemns the killing of women journalists Nadia Al-Sayed and Haneen Baroud, as well as their colleagues Saed Radwan, Abdulrahman Al-Tanani, and Hamza Abu Salmiya, due to Israeli airstrikes in Gaza. Their loss adds to the staggering toll of 131 journalists killed since the onset of this conflict, including 24 women who risked their lives to tell the stories that matter.
This deliberate targeting of journalists is not only an assault on individuals but a grave violation of press freedom and a war crime that cannot be tolerated. The systematic attacks perpetrated by Israel that have left 35 journalists injured, 2 missing, and 54 detained, as Women Press Freedom has documented, signify an alarming trend that threatens the very foundation of democracy and the right to information.
We call upon the United Nations and international human rights bodies to launch immediate and independent investigations into these atrocities. Those responsible must be held accountable for their actions, and urgent measures must be taken to protect journalists on the ground.
The global community must unite to safeguard press freedom and ensure that the voices of those who risk everything to report the truth are heard and protected. We stand in solidarity with our fellow journalists and demand justice for those who have been killed in the pursuit of truth.
