West Bank: Detained Without Charge for Months, Reporter Rasha Herzallah Convicted of "Incitement"

November 17, 2024 - West Bank, Palestine

Palestinian journalist Rasha Herzallah has been sentenced to 6 months in prison and fined by an Israeli military court for alleged "incitement on social media."

A WAFA reporter, Herzallah was detained since June without charge, with her detention extended five times before the "incitement" charge was presented at the Israeli Salem military base near Jenin. She is expected to be released on December 1.

Women Press Freedom condemns Israel's unjust detention and conviction of Rasha. Women journalists Bushra Al-Taweel and Rula Hassanein also remain behind bars. Israeli authorities must end the jailing, targeting, and harassment of Palestinian journalists. All wrongfully detained must be freed.
