September 27, 2024 - Turkmenistan

On the eve of her 75th birthday, renowned journalist Soltan Achilova faced a shocking act of intimidation when special services vandalized her disabled son’s car, breaking its rearview mirror. Despite filing a police report, authorities claimed no evidence was found on security cameras.

This is just the latest in a series of attacks against Achilova for her fearless reporting. Women Press Freedom strongly condemns this intimidation and demands an end to the state persecution of this award-winning journalist.
