Mexico: Silvia Peraza Azueta’s Home Shot at After Reporting Cartel Threats

September 24, 2024 - Mexico, Quintana Roo

Women Press Freedom vehemently condemns the attack on journalist Silvia Peraza Azueta, whose home was shot at after she filed a complaint with the State Attorney General’s Office. Just hours before, she reported threats linked to her story on medical negligence, including a chilling message from the Sinaloa Cartel.

This terrifying incident shows the dangerous environment for journalists in Mexico, where 47 have been murdered under President López Obrador.

We demand action from authorities and adequate protection for Silvia immediately.
