Aleksandra Tolj Ruzic, a correspondent for N1 TV, was harassed and attacked while covering a demonstration in Cetinje. On September 5, Aleksandra was covering a protest against the inauguration of the head of a Serbian church with her TV crew. She was intimidated and then attacked by violent protesters before leaving the scene. Aleksandra took refuge in a local house until the police arrived and rescued her and the crew. The CFWIJ is appalled by the attack and demands state authorities apprehend the assailants. We commend Aleksandra for her courage and commitment to her work.

Journalist Milka Tadić-Mijović was approached by former boxer Boško Filipović in a parking lot outside Petrovac supermarket. Filipović abused and threatened Milka for several minutes, during which time, the journalist was seriously concerned about her safety. He levelled accusations at her colleague and the nature of her work. The incident was taken up by state authorities and Filipović has been arrested since.

According to the latest updates, there was another attempt to murder Olivera Lakic. Two people are in police custody for allegations of planning to murder the journalist. In a statement made by the special prosecutor, it was revealed that the authorities received a tip that led to the discovery of incriminating information. The culprits intended to recruit an individual in prison to carry out another assassination attempt on Olivera. CFWIJ is very concerned over the emerging details and the police’s failure to arrest the real perpetrators behind the attack.

Olivera Lakic was approached by an unidentified man outside her home in the capital, Podgorica. She was seriously injured after being shot in her right leg. The man who attacked her immediately ran away as police teams began their search. Lakic was taken to the hospital, where she is reportedly out of danger. CFWIJ condemns the attempted murder of Olivera Lakic. We consider this assault to be a desperate bid to silence the journalist. We wish her a quick recovery and offer her our full support.
