Ecuador: CFWIJ Condemns The Threat Against Journalist Dayanna Monroy By Former President
Journalist Dayanna Monroy was publicly denounced again by former president Abdalá Bucaram, who has expressed his desire to kill her. The Coalition For Women In Journalism is very concerned about the possible threat to the journalist’s life and demands the authorities ensure her safety.

The Coalition For Women In Journalism considers the continuous postponement of the trials against journalists is implemented as a systematic intimidation policy. We demand Derya Okatan’s acquittal.

Minister for Equalities, Kemi Badenoch, attempted to publicly rebuke journalist Nadine White for essentially doing her job. Nadine had approached her in January inquiring about her participation in the vaccine campaign of the United States. Badenoch published the correspondence on the social media campaign, resulting in abuse towards Nadine.

United States: CFWIJ Condemns The Threats Of Arrest Against Journalist Meredith Aldis
A town hall meeting was held by U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene in Dalton, Georgia. Meredith was asked to leave the premises after trying to pose her question to the Representative. Security escorted Meredith from the meeting hall and threatened to arrest the journalist and her crew for criminal trespassing if they did not leave the property. CFWIJ condemns the mistreatment of Meredith and asks authorities to allow journalists to report freely without intimidation.
India: CFWIJ Expresses Concern Over The Rape And Death Threats Against Journalist Neha Dixit
A reporter in New Delhi has been physically stalked and threatened since last year. The Coalition For Women In Journalism is very concerned about the threats of rape, acid attack and death against the journalist. We demand the Indian authorities to find the perpetrators and ensure the journalist’s safety amidst the threats.
Iran: CFWIJ Distressed By The Prolonged Imprisonment Of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe
Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, who has worked with renowned media organizations, has been imprisoned in Iran for nearly five years. Nazanin was sentenced to prison for charges of espionage, which she has denied. The Coalition For Women In Journalism condemns her arbitrary detention and urges Iranian authorities for her immediate release.

Pam Johnson, known as a trailblazer for women in journalism, died at the age of 74 after battling dementia. The Coalition For Women In Journalism expresses sorrow over the loss of a valued and skilled editor in the world of journalism.

Gazetecilikte Kadın Koalisyonu (CFWIJ) olarak takipsizlik kararını memnuniyetle karşılıyoruz. Ancak benzer kararların hakkında soruşturma açılan veya yargılanan bütün gazeteciler için verilmesini talep ediyoruz. Gazetecilik suç değildir.
Turkey: CFWIJ Welcomes The Dismissal Of The Case Against Reporter Zeynep Durgut
The investigation launched against the Mesopotamia Agency (MA) reporter Zeynep Durgut was dismissed by the prosecutor. Zeynep was detained and released after following stories in Şırnak. The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ) welcomes the decision. However, we demand similar verdicts be ordered for all journalists who are being investigated or prosecuted. Journalism is not a crime.
China: CFWIJ Condemns The Beating Of A Female Journalist
A female reporter was beaten and injured by men in the city of Qixia in China’s Shandong province. The Coalition For Women In Journalism condemns the brutal treatment of a journalist working in the field.

Cumhuriyet Gazetesi muhabiri Hazal Ocak hakkında Cengiz Holding’in ‘itibar zedelemek’ iddiasıyla açtığı davanın karar duruşması bugün görüldü. Mahkeme, gazeteciye yönelik açılan hakaret davasının reddine karar verdi. Gazetecilikte Kadın Koalisyonu (CFWIJ) kararı memnuniyetle karşılıyor. Yargı mekanizmasını gazetecilerin temel hak ve özgürlüklerini savunmaya çağırıyoruz. Koalisyon olarak tüm gazetecilerin beraatını talep ediyoruz.

The sixth hearing of the trial against Cumhuriyet Newspaper reporter Hazal Ocak was held today in İstanbul. The court decided to dismiss the defamation case towards the journalist. The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ) welcomes the court verdict. We urge the judiciary to stand for the fundamental freedoms and rights of reporters. Therefore we demand all journalists’ acquittal.
