El Salvador: CFWIJ Condemns The Assault Of Photojournalist Jessica Orellana.
Photojournalist for El Diario de Hoy, Jessica Orellana was physically assaulted by President Nayib Bukele’s security team. Jessica was impeded while trying to capture images of the president casting his vote. Jessica was hurt by a security member who took her by the arm and injured her neck. Jessica collected herself and resumed taking pictures when she was pushed again by another member of the security detail. CFWIJ condemns the physical assault of the journalist at work. We ask government authorities to step in and hold the president's security team accountable for forcefully interfering with a journalist doing her job.
El Salvador: CFWIJ Condena El Sospechoso Ataque En Casa De Julia Gavarrete. Exigimos Al Gobierno Proteger A La Periodista E Investigue El Ataque
El Salvador: CFWIJ Condemns The Suspicious Attack On Julia Gavarrete’s House. We Demand The Government To Protect The Journalist And Investigate The Attack.
Gato Encerrado News reporter Julia Gavarrete reported on July 2nd that her house was broken into while she was at a press conference. When Julia returned from work, she found her house door open and her room had been deliberately scattered with her belongings, papers, stationery and work material. Her laptop was stolen, that being the only material of value missing and no other valuable strokes is described as a robbery. The incident seems methodological to the journalist who feels it could be linked with the state.
